GR on the Lattice: Ideas and Examples

Where do LQC "holonomy corrections" come from? I will briefly review the idea, and show that the well-known modified Friedmann equation of LQC can be obtained (with some important modifications) from LQG on cubic lattice. Central to this result is the use of complexifier coherent states to extract a classical Hamiltonian from the scalar constraint operator. This realization exposes the fact that the regularization (important in defining certain LQG operators) can be passed directly to the classical level, leading to what we could call “GR on the lattice''. I will discuss some reduced-symmetry examples: homogeneous anisotropic spacetimes (Bianchi I), spherically symmetric spacetimes, and gravitational waves (perturbations on Minkowski background).
