SUMMARY:ECAP Seminar: Forcing neutrinos to obey the holographic principle (
 Dr. Oliver Friedrich (LMU))
DESCRIPTION:Gravity does not like the vast amounts of states present in QFT
\, and\nquantum gravitational effects are expected to drastically reduce t
he\ndimension of the QFT Hilbert space. This is e.g. achieved by "operator
\ndressing"\, which changes the commutation relations of quantum fields.\n
In https://arxiv.org/abs/2402.11016 we build a model for neutrinos\,\ntha
t incorporates this dressing and fixes it such that neutrinos obey\na cosm
ic entropy bound. A key consequence of this construction is that\nparticle
s scatter in the vacuum. This e.g. implies a finite mean free\npath of cos
mic neutrinos. We confront this result with observed\nneutrino emissions a
nd find that the holographic principle is\npotentially in tension with cur
 rent neutrino data.
