Over the second week of February 2026 and for the thirteenth time in total, scientists from the field of loop quantum gravity and neighboring fields gathered in the scenic Austrian village of Tux to present and to discuss the latest developments of the fields, see also the workshop website. With its modern conference facilities and its beautiful architecture, the Tux Center provided an ideal venue, both for the workshop itself and for the public talk.
The popular talk was given by ISLQG member Eugenio Bianchi on “The Seven Wonders of Black Holes” and proved to be a delight for members of the public and workshop participants alike.
The contributions to the workshop came from many different approaches to quantum gravity. Larger research programs such as canonical loop quantum gravity and spinfoams, asymptotic safety, generalized uncertainty relations, and doubly special relativity were represented, as well as other approaches such as unimodular quantum gravity and q-desics. A presentation on quantum reference frames and several other contributions connected questions in quantum gravity to research in quantum information and quantum foundations. Studies of quantum black holes in various frameworks and effective models were presented, highlighting the possibilities for new comparisons and collaborations. Another thread running through several presentations were renormalization techniques in quantum gravity.
Workshop sessions lasted from the early afternoon into the evening, with the mornings free for winter sports, hikes or scientific collaboration. Daring participants also participated in various sled rides down snowy slopes and roads. A workshop dinner was a further highlight.
The workshop organizers Mehdi Assanioussi, Christian Fleischhack, Ilkka Mäkinen, Hanno Sahlmann and Wolfgang Wieland have been very grateful for all the 28 talks and the lively exchange among the participants.
The 14th Tux Workshop on Quantum Gravity is scheduled for 15–19 February 2027.
