How to find us

The Physikum of the University of Erlangen is located on the Southern Campus – the “Südgelände der Universität”.
Our institute’s address is Staudtstr. 7, 91058 Erlangen. Our offices are on floor 02 of building B2.

By plane

The nearest airport is Nuremberg airport. From here you can …

take a taxi: It takes about 30 minutes to reach us (charges vary from 25,- to 30,-Euro).
go by bus: Take the no. 33 bus to “Fürth Hauptbahnhof”. Change in “Am Wegfeld” to bus no. 20 to “Erlangen Arcaden” or to bus no. 30 to “Erlangen Hugenottenplatz”. For bus no. 20, get off at “Nikolaus-Fiebiger-Str.”; this bus stop is right in front of the institutes for biology and physics (see our map in pdf format). From here, it shall take you only 3 minutes to reach our institute. For bus no. 30, get off at “Erlangen Süd”. From here it is a good walk to our institute (it should require approx. 20 min.). The bus station “Erlangen Süd” is located South of the institute (see our map in pdf format). Please walk up Egerlandstraße and then up Erwin-Rommel-Straße. On the right side of Erwin-Rommel-Straße, near the bus station “Sebaldussiedlung”, you will find the institutes for biology and physics. The bus journey takes up to 60 minutes. Make sure to buy a ticket for 3 zones (for approx. 3,50 Euro) or ask the bus driver for a ticket to Erlangen.

By train

Exit at Erlangen station. Buses no. 287 and 293 (or no. 20 from “Arcaden” bus stop) take you to the “Südgelände”. Get off at “Sebaldussiedlung” (287, 293) or at “Nikolaus-Fiebiger-Str.” (20). This bus stop is right in front of the institutes for biology and physics (see our map in pdf format). From here, it shall take you only 3 minutes to reach our institute.

You can also take a taxi from the railway station to the Südgelände, which costs about 9,00 / 11,- Euro.

By car

There are two motorways around Erlangen – A3 (Würzburg-München), A73 (Nürnberg – Bamberg). Here is how to reach us:

Motorway A3: Leave the motorway at “Erlangen-Tennenlohe” in the direction of Erlangen (Bundesstraße B4). Get off the B4 at “Gräfenberg / Universität-Südgelände” and follow the signs. Keep straight on, pass by Cauerstraße and Erwin-Rommel- Straße. Turn left into Staudtstraße at the traffic light (sign: “Universität Physik / Biologie”). Take the second street to your left. The multi-storey car park is in front of you; our institute is on your right-hand side.
Motorway A73: Leave the motorway at “Erlangen-Bruck” and turn right in the direction of Gräfenberg (Bundesstraße B4). Get off the B4 at “Gräfenberg / Universität-Südgelände” and follow the signs. Keep straight on, pass by Cauerstraße and Erwin-Rommel-Straße. Turn left into Staudtstr. at the traffic light (sign: “Universität Physik / Biologie”). Take the second street to your left.
